Franklin Academy students who took part in NH Ethics Bowl competition

The National High School Ethics Bowl (NHSEB) tests students with “cases” or ethical dilemmas. In small teams, students analyze these cases, develop a position, and present their perspective. NHSEB judges determine which group gave the best presentation based on established ethical principles. Students must engage the central moral issues of each case, justify their position, articulate that position clearly, and address possible counterarguments.

The team of seniors will compete against the winner of the New England Ethics Bowl on February 7th, for a chance to compete in the National High School Ethics Bowl in April.

Another Franklin Academy team, including seniors Kaylee Armstrong and Aiden Caron as well as juniors Henna Goachee, Wyatt Lamitie, Jayden Confessore, and Alessandra Lappas also had a strong showing, finishing with a 2-1 record and placing second in their bracket. Malone Ethics Bowl team members Lolah Svenningson, Noah Taylor, and Taylor Wells are not pictured.

In this competition that tested intellect, character, and communication at an elite level, Franklin Academy students demonstrated the academic excellence that has long been a hallmark of Malone schools. With admiration and no small amount of pride, we wish the team of seniors another strong performance in their next Ethics Bowl competition!
