Davis Elementary students under a brightly colored parachute

From the perspective of a child, there is no difference between learning and play. Global Play Day is a celebration of this for students and teachers – partly because it gives both groups the chance to interact in slightly different ways while still teaching and learning.

Malone’s elementary schools have taken part in Global Play Day over the past week. At Davis Elementary and Malone’s other schools, the worldwide event took shape as students got creative with toys and games – but most importantly with each other.

In addition to learning the rules of any new game, kids learn how to work as part of a team. And that is so important for their social and emotional learning as well. Another great thing about Global Play Day: no electronics – this expectation allows space for more and better interactions among students, teachers, and families.

Malone students and staff send their sincere thanks to families and other community members who recognize the value of play in education and support these activities.

Play on.
