The Malone Central School District (MCSD) Board of Education adopted a 2024-25 school budget proposal that would preserve and improve upon our instructional programs, and maintain a safe and secure environment.

The proposed budget keeps the tax levy increase to 3.0% or $418,222, which is lower than the district’s allowable limit of 5.56% as calculated under the state’s “tax cap” formula. As a result, a simple majority vote (50% plus one vote) is needed to pass.

The proposal, which the board adopted on April 7, emphasizes the focus on improving academic growth and achievement, while being respectful of community residents in these challenging economic times.

You can learn more about the proposed 2024-25 budget in a community newsletter that has been mailed to the district residents.

The annual budget vote and election will take place on May 21. Polls will be open from noon to 8:00 p.m. Absentee and early voting information can be found on the District’s Budget and Finance webpage.

This study will determine the viability of such installations and secure a place in the grid queue. Additionally, residents will be asked to authorize the District to enter one or more energy performance contracts and/or installment purchase contracts to finance a solar project, contingent on the feasibility study's results, and associated incidental costs, with the total amount not to exceed $3,000,000.

Funds for this account will be obtained from the end of year budget surplus and the interest these funds accrue over the term of the capital reserve fund, as well as transfers of excess monies from Board of Education designated reserves.
