Franklin Academy held its Epsilon Ball for students in grades 10-12 on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Elks Lodge in Malone. The Epsilon Society was founded 111 years ago, in 1914, by Ms. Bertha Paddock. The founding members of Epsilon felt it was important to recognize students for their academic strength while also placing a focus on community and volunteerism. Each student inducted into the Epsilon Society this school year has proven their academic success, and qualified for induction based on achieving an 87% or 3.3 GPA during their freshman year at Franklin Academy.
For continued participation in the society, students must maintain an 87% or 3.3 GPA, attend monthly meetings, engage in group events, and complete a minimum of five hours of community service per year.
The Epsilon Ball is a winter ball that celebrates the achievements of the students involved with the Epsilon Society. Every year, a King's and Queen's court are selected, and from those court members an Epsilon King and Queen are chosen.
Congratulations to this year's Epsilon King, Kyle Sims, and Queen, Ellie Tober. The full King's Court consisted of Chandler Fefee, Brady Riley, Kyle Sims, Logan McArdle, and Ian Mulverhill, while the full Queen's Court included Emma Riley, Chloe LaBelle, Alani Perry, Henna Goachee, and Ellie Tober.
